How often do you replace your e-cigarette?
It has never been as popular to vape as it is right now, and we here at Elekcig can easily understand it. Vaping an e-cigarette is both simple and smart, and the e-cigarettes have the clear advantage that they are a much better alternative to the regular cigarettes with the harmful chemicals.
Are you a beginner, or perhaps you have already become familiar with the e-cigarettes, then it may also be that you have continually had some unanswered questions when it comes to vaping.
These can, among other things, be questions about how you mix your own e-liquid, but they can also be questions about the inside of your e-cigarette. For example, questions about the atomizer that sits inside your e-cigarette together with a small battery and a tank for your e-liquid.
What is in my e-cigarette?
An e-cigarette consists of three different parts, a container for the e-liquid, a battery and a burner, which is also called a coil. The tank inside is the part that holds the e-liquid, and the battery is designed to provide power so that your e-cigarette can be powered on.
The e-liquid comes in a wide variety of flavors and scents and can even be obtained with or without nicotine. The e-liquid is based on two important things - PG propylene glycol and VG glycerin. Both must be used to create the vapor that comes when you vape your e-cigarette.
How does a coil work?
The coil is the part of your e-cigarette that heats up the e-liquid you have chosen for your e-cigarette. The coil consists of cotton, which is wrapped in a thin metal wire. It is important that the cotton gets soaked with liquid before you use the e-cigarette. If you do not ensure that the cotton is completely wet, you risk the coil burning together and the vapor getting a burnt taste when you vape.
What happens inside the e-cigarette when you press the button is that the e-liquid flows from the tank into the coil, which causes the liquid in the cotton to vaporize. Since if you have used the e-cigarette a few times, a rule of thumb is about 2-4 weeks, that the coil must be replaced with a new one.
It is fairly easy to know when it's time to change, because both the flavor and the amount of vapor will decrease in strength as the e-cigarette is used.
How to change the coil in your e-cigarette
You don't need to replace your coil from time to time. But fortunately it's an easy thing to do yourself. Usually a coil lasts about 2-4 weeks. The coil can be bought in bulk, so make sure you have a few pieces lying in a box at home, so you don't have to go out and buy a new coil.
Replacing a coil is fairly simple, so here is a short guide:
- Start by unscrewing the coil from the e-cigarette
- Take out the coil
- Now loosen the coil and the base
- Then you can screw the new coil into the base, and you are ready to vape again.
How can I make my atomizer last as long as possible?
Naturally you want your atomizer to last as long as possible, so here are a number of things you can do yourself to extend its lifespan. First and foremost, and before you turn on your e-cigarette, it is important that you always ensure that the cotton in the coil is completely soaked with the chosen e-liquid. If you do not ensure that the cotton is completely wet, the coil will be damaged and you will get a burnt taste when you vape.
On some e-cigarettes it is even possible to adjust the wattage up and down; all burners are measured in watts. Depending on which burner you have in your e-cigarette there is a minimum and a maximum in terms of wattage. Here the e-cigarette must be at least 30 W and at most 70 W, otherwise the coil's lifespan decreases considerably. It is therefore important that you always be aware that the coil is not above or below the recommended wattage.
Choose an e-liquid that is good for your coil
The choice of your e-liquid also matters for the coil's lifespan. Some e-liquids are bad for the atomizer, for example the sweet liquids with fruity flavors. But the flavor of mint or licorice can also help ruin your coil.
What happens with the sweet liquids is that the metal wire in the atomizer and around the cotton caramelizes, thereby preventing optimal evaporation of the e-liquid.
Daily wear on the coil reduces its lifespan
Since you regularly use your e-cigarette, most likely every day, there will naturally also be daily wear on the coil. The more you vape and the higher power you use when you vape, the faster your coil in the e-cigarette wears out.
If your e-cigarette has a burnt taste or if it has stopped producing the usual amount of vapor, it's time to replace the coil with a new one.
Which coil fits my e-cigarette?
If you are unsure which coil fits your e-cigarette, the easiest way is to look at the packaging that came with your e-cigarette when you bought it. If you haven't saved the packaging and are still unsure, you can always contact our helpful staff.
If you try to find one yourself, it can be difficult to figure out which one is right for you. If you are also new to the vaping world, it can even be difficult to navigate the many different products.
A good idea is to search for your e-cigarette in our store. Here, usually different coils are shown in the search results that match the chosen e-cigarette, and therefore you can choose a variant that fits perfectly with your own e-cigarette.
